The Book of Life (2014). This computer-animated film is about a young man who, after winning the affections of his love, Maria, gets bitten by a snake (all a spirit's doing). Armed with nothing more than two swords, a guitar, and his common sense, he must venture through three worlds in the afterlife in order to get back to Maria and the human world.

The main characters in this animated film were voiced by Diego Luna (protagonist Manolo Sanchez), Zoe Saldana (Maria, Manolo's love interest), and Channing Tatum (Joaquin, Manolo's rival).
