Microsoft is working on a new Windows phone. While still unannounced, what is dubbed as the Lumia 840 XL made an appearance in Zauba's import data for India, revealing that a new offering from the Redmond-based tech giant is currently being tested in the country. India is easily one of the growing markets for new handset offerings, may they be midrange or high-end.
The spotted Windows device is described in the import-export listing to come with a sizeable 5.7-inch display. It also has a single SIM variant and a dual SIM one. The Microsoft Lumia 840, which is believed to be the device that bears the codename "Cityman," was listed with a Rs. 38,346 price tag (that translates to about $600). However, prices indicated on import listings is often not final, and taxes and duties are not likely included.
Unfortunately, those are the only aspects of the smartphone that were revealed. The rest such as its possible Windows 10 support or the handset sticking with Windows 8.1 Denim comes from rumor mills. A Qualcomm octa-core processor is expected to power up the device and 3 GB RAM may be onboard. It is also said that it will have 32 GB of built-in expandable storage. Camera-wise, a formidable 20-megapixel shooter on the back with a 5-megapixel on the front is likely what the manufacturer would go for. A 3300 mAh would be an ideal battery for the device, too.
There is also one more device that goes by the codename "Talkman." It has an identical set of specs to the Lumia 840 XL except for the display size and the battery. It is said to show up with a 5.2-inch screen and a 3000 mAh battery. Media outlets are convinced that this handset is the Lumia 840.
