Michael Schumacher health condition, recovery update - progress is uncertain

Formula One racing legend Michael Schumacher has been making very little progress in his recovery ever since he awoke from a medically induced coma following his skiing accident in the French Alps. The Schumacher family had requested a media black out but new reports indicate that Michael may never go back to being normal.

An insider recently told Express that "Progress is painfully slow. There is no miracle on the horizon."

While Michael's recovery is kept hidden from the media, it has been reported in the past that he does recognize his environments but is still unable to walk or talk. The new report details that the legendary racer is being taken care of by 15 medical experts, advised by Professor Jean Francois Payen, around the clock.

"What tortures the public is the same thing that tortures the family – progress is slow, progress is uncertain," the professor stated. "If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery – and I'm not saying all do – it will always be a story of years."

The professor continues to state that while plausible, it would take years for Michael Schumacher to recover to a point of being "normal."

One of the main hurdles against Michael Schumacher's long-term recovery is the burden of medical costs. The Schumacher family has turned their Swiss Mansion by Lake Geneva into a medical compound and the reports indicate the bills have already surpassed £10 million, an equivalent of $14.6 million.

Every day Michael is massaged to stimulate his body muscles and hopefully improve his chances of walking and moving on his own.

MIchael Schumacher has the honor of holding the most wins and records in Formula One history, with seven Formula One World Championships under his name. He started go-karting at the age of four and eventually retired from Formula One in 2012.
