Controversial filmmaker and political activist Michael Moore just cannot let his American Sniper angst go.

Moore strongly opposes Clint Eastwood's film American Sniper, which tells the story of Chris Kyle, considered the most lethal sniper in American history.

He earlier tweeted (@MMFlint) that snipers are not heroes but are actually cowards since "they will shoot you in the back."

He has received a lot of flak because of his comment, but Moore is not backing down. On January 24, he made another series of scathing tweets against the movie:

"Tomorrow's Sunday School (1) What Would Jesus Do? Oh, I know what he'd do - hide on top of a roof and shoot people in the back!" he tweeted.

"Sunday School: (3) ANSWER: Jesus wouldn't put any soldiers lives in harm's way in the first place because he wouldn't have sent them 2 Iraq,"

Moore also tweeted. "SundaySchool source: Pope John Paul II 'The Iraq War, invading Iraq, is not a just war.' He, and the current Pope, opposed this immoral war."

"Instead of being a sniper to protect our troops, I tried to save their lives by stopping Bush from sending them to their deaths in Iraq," he said.

He has since gone on Facebook and explained why he made the tweets, and clarified that he is not against American troops. In fact, his own uncle was killed during World War II by a sniper, and Moore insisted that he has done nothing but support the troops.

"Who would know better about hating our troops than those who supported sending them into a senseless war Iraq in the first place?" he asked. "Only 'haters' of our brave young men and women would recklessly send them into harm's way for something that had absolutely nothing to do with defending the United States of America. Nothing."

Moore said that he has been steadily supporting the troops, contrary to public opinion, and made a list explaining how. It included specifically hiring Iraq and Afghanistan veterans for his film production company and movie theatres in Michigan, and providing free movie passes every day of the year for all active duty personnel and their families.
