Hideo Kojima's "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is probably one of the best games that fans of the entire series have ever played.

The Phantom Pain, which is set sometime in the 1980s, was meant to complete the entire "Metal Gear" saga so that the story would come full circle. Fans of the whole franchise wanted to know what happened to the legendary operative Venom Snake a.k.a. Big Boss and his mercenary group, the Diamond Dogs, after they have achieved their goal of ridding the world of every nuclear warhead that exists.

However, while the game itself was challenging and very engrossing, the main storyline's ending actually failed to give fans the closure that they were hoping for, as it lacked several key information that would give the eventual 30-year time skip (when his biological son Solid Snake would now be the main protagonist) some sense.

Also, the Diamond Dogs' campaign ending, which can only be seen in the game's multiplayer mode, the Forward Operating Base Battles, can only be achieved when all players from around the world (which can reach thousands) disarm all of their nuclear weapons.

This feat is next to impossible to achieve because not only is it very difficult to coordinate with people from different time zones, many competitive players would never agree to disarm the nuclear warhead in their base since having a nuclear missile ready not only allows players to dish out major damage to their enemies' bases, it also acts as a deterrent, making other players think twice before attacking. Many players would never want to give up an advantage so achieving 100 percent disarmament is highly unlikely.

In an article from the website Player. One, however, it seems that some hackers were able to unlock the "Peace Day" ending without really achieving the zero nuke count. The campaign ending surfaced on YouTube on Feb. 2, showing the entire cutscene where Big Boss and his army celebrate their victory.

Metal Gear Official tweeted about the incident two days after it leaked online, confirming that the event was triggered without meeting the required conditions. They also announced that they are still investigating the matter.
