After binge-watching Netflix's recently released "Marvel's Jessica Jones," fans of superhero sci-fi drama became more excited to see the sophomore season of "Marvel's Daredevil."

It has been a while since the entertainment streaming service provider released new information about the action-adventure series, and it continues to keep the plot and official release date of "Marvel's Daredevil" a secret up to this day.

But based on the trailer released last month, the alter ego of blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) will be facing a vicious villain called the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) next season.

In a recent interview with IGN, Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada revealed several secrets regarding the upcoming season. "I think we'd love to see something happen, but it's way too soon to tell, and we don't necessarily like to discuss which metrics we use to decide these things," the entertainment studio executive revealed.

Quesada also mentioned that those who are familiar with the character of the Punisher will be happy to see how Bernthal gave life to the character by sticking mostly to the his comic book version. "It's one of those cases where it's the character from the pages come to life," the network executive also shared.

Aside from the Punisher, "Marvel's Daredevil" season 2 will also introduce Elektra, Daredevil's possible love interest this season. The role will be portrayed by French TV and film actress Élodie Yung.

Another new series regular addition for the second season of "Marvel's Daredevil" is "Lee Daniel's The Butler" star Stephen Rider, who will portray the role of New York City's District Attorney Blake Tower. His character will help Daredevil locate and capture the city's criminals.

Filming began for "Marvel's Daredevil" during the second half of the year and fans can expect to see the series in early 2016.
