Manchester City needs to comply with Liverpool's price if they badly want to sign budding midfielder Raheem Sterling after their second bid which was worth £40 million was again turned down.
Last week Liverpool rejected a £25 million bid from Man City which included £5 million in add-ons and despite an additional £10 million this time around, the club will not be letting go of the 20-year-old as of now.
Liverpool wants at least £50 million for Sterling who already rejected a £100,000-a-week deal the club offered in their hopes of making him stay at Anfield.
Even his agent has been vocal regarding the situation saying that Sterling, who still has two years left in his current pact with the Reds, will not be re-signing with the club even if they offered him a £900,000-a-week contract.
Despite the current dispute between Liverpool and Sterling, club manager Brendan Rodgers said last month that he expects the English national to stay with them.
Manchester City will not be discouraged though with the recent failed attempt to land Sterling.
The Telegraph's John Percy said in his report that City can come back with a bigger offer and sources say if it reaches £40 million with £5 million in add-ons, Liverpool might finally engage in talks for Sterling.
But Man City is not just focused on landing Sterling as their attention is also on Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere following Liverpool's recent rejection of their £40 million bid.
According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester City is expected to increase their next bid for Sterling but eyes Wilshere as the next transfer target.
Man City aims to add home-grown players and the Mirror also reported that the club will have an initial £30 million offer for the 23-year-old Gunners midfielder.
But Wilshere already said before, "I definitely would not go somewhere just because I am a homegrown player. I'd want to be wanted by a club, I want to be wanted by Arsenal."
