Prior to the highly anticipated release of the MacBook Pro 2016, Apple has rolled out the macOS Sierra, the latest software to replace OSX on its Mac branded products.
The new MacBook Pro is expected to don the macOS Sierra, which introduces a wealth of exciting features that users will find useful and practical including Apple's digital assistant Siri.
Half a decade after it was introduced, Siri will finally make its way to the Mac line of the company through the macOS Sierra. Apart from that, the software also serves the key to one of the biggest upgrades coming to the MacBook Pro 2016.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will add what is being referred to as the Dynamic Function Row in the MacBook Pro 2016, which is basically a digital strip that replaces the physical function keys on the keyboard.
Apart from displaying the function keys, the touch screen will also display controls and functions for other apps, including the Safari web browser and iMovie, such as controls for finding terms in the former and providing a more precise slider in the latter.
Apart from simplifying keyboard shortcuts with the digital strip, Apple should also be able to add new buttons through software tweaks as opposed to expensive and more tedious physical updates.
This new feature, which will use Organic Light-Emitting Diodes or OLED, will go hand in hand with the macOS Sierra. With the operating system now live, it is looking more like Apple is also close to unveiling the MacBook Pro 2016.
It has been four years since the laptop line received an upgrade. Up to now, Apple still sells the same model of the MacBook Pro it released in 2012, and it has gotten so dated.
The Cupertino-based tech firm will reportedly be releasing a 2016 model next month, along with the new MacBook Air, a new iMac, and a 5K standalone display which Apple developed with LG Electronics.
With the macOS Sierra, the MacBook Pro 2016 will allow users to make Apple Pay purchases on the web as well as enjoy new iMessage animations and better iCloud file storage integration.
Design-wise, the MacBook Pro 2016 will be thinner and slightly smaller in build with shallower curves. Apple is also looking to release gray, gold, and silver versions of the laptop, the same colors iPhones come in.
In addition to all that, a Touch ID fingerprint scanner is also expected to be integrated into the new MacBook Pro.
