A new campaign has been launched to encourage people all over the UK to take part in building community this Lent.
Behind the initiative is Love Your Streets, an organisation committed to seeing community flourish and thrive through people working together and serving one another.
The team hope to inspire people from all walks of life to connect with one another, and love their localities.
The hashtag #Do1NiceThing is being used to promote the scheme, and Love Your Streets has put together a list of ideas of how people can get involved - starting with smiling more.
Other suggestions include praying for your neighbourhood, picking up litter, buying flowers for a stranger or going out of your way to thank those who work in the service industry.
"It doesn't matter if you live in a town, city, village or country hamlet – if you go near a street or other people then this concept is for you," Love Your Streets say.
"Spread some love, spread some hope, spread a smile, spread some random acts of kindness – help make our world an even better place to be."
The heart behind the initiative is to see Christians put the call of Jesus to 'Love your neighbour' into action; serving those around us practically, and in a way that makes a real difference. The significance of promoting the initiative over Lent is that it is traditionally a time of giving up.
"This year, can we also encourage you to Give Out?' Love Your Streets ask.
"#Do1NiceThing is about loving and serving others and the wider community. It is about being the change, making positive steps to make life better for others (and yourself in the process!)."
To get involved, #Do1NiceThing, tweet about it and then challenge two others to do the same.
