A&E suddenly cancelled "Longmire" even if it was their highest-rated scripted TV show. And because it gained 5 to 6 million viewers, everyone got mad when the network made the cancellation. But since A&E isn't changing their decision, the fanbase of "Longmire" is working hard to help the show get picked up for another season in another network.
Craig Johnson, executive creative consultant of "Longmire" had some things to share with Wyoming News. According to Johnson, season 4 is happening and it can happen during the holidays.
"I expect to hear something about it by Christmas, which should actually work out pretty well. That would make a great present for the fans and the state of Wyoming, I think," Johnson said.
Indeed, what a Christmas treat that will be for the show's viewers and avid fans.
He shared that Warner Horizon and the show's producers are already going through the process of shopping through different networks. However, he'd like to point out that reselling the show is not that easy. And since the contracts of the cast will expire in February, the show will most likely start shooting earlier than that.
"It's still a longer process than people think, though, because we have to go to each network before we can get a deal done to see what everyone is offering or thinking," he explained.
Johnson knows for a fact that the people are angry.
"The people are mad out there, and these aren't the ones you want to make angry because they have been to the rodeo and have the buckle. They will tell you what they think, and they never forget or forgive," he said.
He added that everywhere he goes, people are asking him how they can help bring back the show. Social media protests have been very helpful in the campaign to bring back "Longmire." Johnson is impressed and very appreciative of everyone's efforts.
At the end of the interview, Johnson made it clear that the reason why A&E pulled the plug was because they wanted to own the show so they can stop paying licensing to Warner Horizon.
