LA Clippers news: Clippers interested in Tayshaun Prince

Tayshaun Prince may find himself packing his bags as early as he arrived in Boston.

The Celtics are rumored to be shopping Prince and the Clippers are said to be keen on acquiring the NBA vet. Prince holds a hefty $7.7 million contract which may make trading him a nightmare.

Hence, if the Celtics are unable to find a suitable trade partner, Prince could eventually be bought out. And based on reports, that is the only time that the LA Clippers will come into the picture.

Prince, a 13-year NBA veteran, is rumored to be uninterested in playing for Boston. He averages a career-best 45.5 percent from the three-point region and has played 24.2 minutes for the Grizzlies before he was traded.

A straight up trade is not feasible at this point if the Celtics were to consider a trade negotiation with the Clippers. Apparently the Clips don't have the assets available to gain the interest of Ainge and the Celtics at this point.

Despite earlier reports however that Prince does not want to play for Boston, Metro West Daily News reports that he will indeed suit up for the Celtics when they play, ironically, the Clippers.

"He has got a lot of experience," coach Brad Stevens said in a report from Metro West Daily News. "And he has got a lot of winning experience. Any guy like that is welcomed to share his thoughts all day long."

With Prince eventually playing, it remains to be seen if he will be staying in Boston for long. The Clippers will catch a glimpse of Prince in a Celtic uniform and could eventually gauge if he can help improve the lineup of coach Doc Rivers.

But the only thing the Clippers would resort to if they do pursue Prince is through a buyout. Will the Celtics do to Prince the same thing they did to Nate Robinson to rid of themselves of that expensive contract he carries? Stay tuned.
