Korean Christian Councils Hold the Joint Inaugural Service for New Denominational Heads

|PIC1|SEOUL, South Korea – The Christian Council of Korea(CCK) and The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) held "The Joint Inaugural Celebration Service of New Denominational Heads, Organisational Heads, and Denominational General Secretaries" on Oct. 17 in Seoul.

Newly appointed heads and general secretaries from 61 denominations and heads of 20 organizations were present at the service which was held at CCMM Building in Yoido-dong, Yoido-gu.

"We want to be heads who do not seek our own sake but the sake of others,” said the newly appointed president of The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Korea, the Rev. Han Suk Lee, on behalf of the newly appointed heads. “We will be denominational leaders who work for churches to be healthier and for the Kingdom of God to come down on the earth quickly."

"New representatives received great commissions for the churches and this era,” Lee continued. “The heads of denominations must raise their voices for the peace of the Korean Peninsula, economical stability, the human rights of the neglected, and the unity of Korean people."|TOP|

Dong Chea Chung, the Minister of Culture & Tourism, gave a congratulatory remark during the service and reflected on the long history of service provided by the churches of Korea.

"The Korean churches have performed well their commissions in our society as the light and salt during the past 120 years,” Dong stated. “They especially impressed the society recently by helping Katrina disaster victims with prompt fundraising."

Also for the service, the former representative president of the CCK, the Rev. Ja Yeon Gil from Wangsung Church, delivered the message with the title "There Is Creation When There Is the Word."
