'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date rumor: Amazon pre-orders soon?

Sora in Kingdom Hearts 3 Square-Enix

Although publisher Square Enix has yet to release a specific release date for two of its most-anticipated games, "Final Fantasy XV" and "Kingdom Hearts 3," fans may expect either a late 2016 or early 2017 release window, at least for the Square Enix-Disney crossover.

According to the latest speculations, online retailer Amazon might have inadvertently posted a general release window for the next installment in the series, "Kingdom Hearts 3." In a report from Master Herald, it is mentioned that Amazon has already released a list of upcoming video games for possible release. One of the games listed was "Kingdom Hearts 3."

However, since there are no confirmed details yet coming from publisher Square Enix, most hardcore fans are taking the news with a grain of salt. Indeed, some observers who are familiar with the industry have said that Amazon might have come up with a list of titles that would be released and would be available for pre-orders only, and chose not to indicate which is which for marketing hype.

Meanwhile, although "Kingdom Hearts 3" and "Final Fantasy XV" don't have release dates yet, fans are expecting a 2016 release for both, since Square Enix has been showcasing these two titles in different events lately. The two titles are also being expected to appear at this year's PlayStation Experience 2015 event later this week.

This was not the first time that Amazon apparently "leaked" information about "Kingdom Hearts 3." Earlier this year, fans who have subscribed to the online retailer's feedback pages received an email, apparently saying that "Kingdom Hearts 3" had an estimated arrival date of Jan. 2, 2017. However, the email also contained a note that the January date came up and happened to be the next shipping date after a Dec. 31 listing – the original placeholder date for "Kingdom Hearts 3."
