With the Electronic Entertainment Expo inching closer, "Pokémon" fans are at the edge of their seats for a brand new game in their favorite series. With the rumors circling around about an announcement at the biggest gaming convention in existence, there is reason to believe that "Pokémon Z," as the Internet calls it (it will be a follow-up to "Pokémon X and Y"), is in the offing.
It's been awhile since Nintendo released a "Pokémon" game. The last one was "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire." Gamers know very well that the gaming giant has not fully committed to refreshing the franchise annually, but in recent years, Nintendo was ready to do so. This solidifies the need for a new "Pokémon" title.
However, assuming that Nintendo is working on "Pokémon Z," media outlets believe that the E3 won't be the occasion to lift the veil off it. This reasoning is backed up by Nintendo's release and annoucement patterns for "Pokémon" games or, more accurately, the lack of it.
Nintendo could not get any more random about its announcement of "Pokémon ORAS" back in 2014. On May 7 last year, the company introduced the installment from out of the blue, blowing fans away. This date, interestingly, falls on this month, which gives a glimmer of hope that even though late this mid-year, Nintendo will bring out "Pokémon Z." If not, then the long-awaited 3DS game might just be a bombshell from them again, with a random release date attached to it, all for the element of surprise. Besides, a "Pokémon" game will fill the fall schedule gap.
On the negative side of things, media outlets often mention the lack of "Pokémon"-related announcements during the E3 event. Nintendo likes to hold a separate affair to bring out a new game that involves adorable skirmish-inclined creatures. More to the point, many believe that the company will be sticking with its announced titles for now. Nintendo's E3 visit will likely be about updates on the delayed "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U and possibly on "Mario Kart 8" and "Super Smash Bros." On the 3DS front, there's "Fire Emblem" to anticipate.
