The iPad Pro 2 will not be treated with major design upgrades as Apple is saving massive changes to the 2018 versions of the tablet.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects a "revolutionary" iPad which will be released in 2018 with "radical" changes in the form of a flexible AMOLED panel.
This suggests that the iPad Pro 2 will not have drastic changes. However, Kuo did say it will be powered by the yet-to-be-announced A10X processor.
Based on new information obtained by The Motley Fool from a job description of an Apple chip engineer, the next-generation processor expected to be in the iPad Pro 2 was delivered on schedule.
More importantly, the A10X processor apparently went beyond Apple's power and performance goals "while simultaneously adopting new process technology and design tools."
The Motley Fool believes that this is saying something, taking into consideration that Apple already has high expectations on its next-gen products, to begin with.
The finance publication also suggests that by "new process technology," the engineer meant a 10-nanometer process, which will be a massive jump from the A9X processor's 14nm.
The improvement in the A10X processor-powered iPad Pro is believed to come in the form of superior graphics performance which should make the giant tablet a force to be reckoned with.
With such incredible power, the iPad Pro 2 will easily outperform most premium and thin laptops, which will serve Apple CEO Tim Cook's goal for the device to be the new PC.
"Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones," Cook told The Telegraph earlier this year.
With the A10X processor, the iPad Pro 2 will definitely see Cook's vision come to fruition. With regards to the release date, the tablet is expected to be released in spring 2017.
