HTC One ME9 release date, specs rumors: New image rendering of handset's metal frame emerges

HTC is on a roll, releasing one top-of-the-line handset after another. The manufacturer based in Taiwan is expected to release one more, which is called the HTC One ME9. The alleged handset has been a subject of many leaks, all of which point to the imminent release of a brand new premium device.

The newest leak involving the smartphone shows a rendering of its supposed metal frame, the design of which looks almost identical to most of HTC's handsets. This also does not change HTC picking a polycarbonate back for the One ME9.

Another juicy detail from Zauba, this time talking about the device's target markets, revealed that the HTC One ME9 is headed to India. Reportedly, 1,700 dummy units of the handset have already arrived in the country, which is rumored to see the device by July.

The leak also revealed the color variants of the HTC One ME9. Two listings in the leaked image show that some units will be dipped in Classic Rose Gold while other units will be painted with Meteor Grey. A Gold Sepia variant is anticipated as well.

If the rumored specs are to go by, then the HTC One ME9 will be patterned after the HTC One M9 Plus, released in China recently. It has a fingerprint scanner and BoomSound speakers to boot. The only thing missing is the Duo camera, which will probably make it to the lower model of the two.

The use of a MediaTek MT6795 chipset with an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz is always a treat, and its Android 5.0 Lollipop juxtaposed with Sense 7 makes it sweeter. There's a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage in there as well as a 2900 mAh battery.

The final set of HTC One ME9's stellar specs is its of the 5.2-inch QHD display and a formidable camera combo, which is said to include a 20-megapixel rear-facing shooter and either a 4-UltraPixel selfie snapper or a 13-megapixel camera.

Pricing is expected to be at CNY 3500, which roughly translates to $563 and €506. The HTC One ME9 is expected to come out in July.
