Hollywood isn't nice to people of faith, says 'The Big Bang Theory' star Mayim Bialik

"The Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik says faith and Hollywood are just two things that do not go well together.

The 39-year-old mother, who plays Dr. Sheldon Cooper's quirky genius girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler in the TV series, has often used her celebrity status to promote things that matter to her, such as dressing modestly. Sometimes, people get upset with her personal views.

When she recently flew to Israel to visit a friend who is a member of the Israel Defense Forces, social media went into a stir.

"I've gotten a lot of negative attention for visiting Israel," she told FOX411.

"That's what's amazing...simply by going to Israel this summer and saying nothing more than, 'I've gone to Israel,' I got the same amount of hatred and threats and anti-Semitism for actually making a statement trying to support people whether I like it or not are serving in an army."

"That reveals the truth. It really doesn't matter what I support or believe; the fact that I'm Jewish and going there is enough – that should be alarming to most people," she added.

Bialik noted that the entertainment industry in general isn't all that nice to people of faith, and she does not think that religious views would ever become trendy in Hollywood circles.

However, even if Hollywood does not appreciate religious views, Bialik still appreciates the belief of a power "greater than" herself.

"There are people I know of faith and we tend to congregate together. I study Jewish texts weekly. That's something really positive to me when you're a person of faith, it stays with you all the time," she shared.
