"Half Life 3" rumors: Are gamers waiting for nothing?

 Wikipedia

Video game developer Valve Corporation has neither confirmed nor denied that there will be a "Half Life 3." That is perhaps the best presumption for gamers who have been eagerly asking if the popular game of the 90s will ever make another run again.

"Half Life," a game that had its shining moments 10 years ago, stays in the air as folks who experienced the said first-person shooting game leave hopes of seeing a third installment.

Some had wished it would come out at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event but, sad to say, there was no sign of it. There were sightings of characters and weapons at a recent virtual reality exhibit at the Game Developers Conference, but such doesn't seem to indicate that the game is anywhere near of being developed or released.

Ongoing rumors that there are said to be 10 people working on the game right now doesn't necessarily make one hopeful that a third installment should be expected anytime soon. What can 10 people do to dramatically draw interest?

That is perhaps the closest thing that folks can expect for now as far as a "Half Life 3" release is concerned. Internally, the people inside Valve have been toying with the idea. But that is practically it. Will it move forward with those couple of information plaguing the net?

Unfortunately, the game is perhaps best categorized as status quo. It could push through and then again remain in the beta or development stages.

There is a clamor, a loud one actually, for the game to make a return. But for now, it seems that Valve is pretty much concerned about addressing actual games they have in the market, including "Mass Effect 3," which is incidentally caught in the middle of a controversy.

The only thing that developers are saying right now is that the idea of having "Half Life 3" is not totally dead. It could happen but there is no timetable for the game to make a comeback.

Despite many fans seeking for the game's return, it will remain a rumor for now. On whether it goes beyond that is anyone's guess.
