'GTA 6' rumors: Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes to play game's protagonists?

GTA V Rockstar Games

Word on the street is that developer Rockstar is working on a star-studded "GTA 6," which will feature A-list celebrities. According to Yibada, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes will take part in the game as the main characters.

There were previous reports that the title will have a female lead and Day Herald says that Mendes will be the person behind that character. As for Gosling, his participation in "GTA 6" will bring to life Rockstar's alleged plans of melding the "GTA" series with the company's other mega successful franchise, "Red Dead Redemption." The aforementioned site says that the actor's character will be a descendant of John Marston, the protagonist in the latter game.

Gosling's character will reportedly be based on his role in the 2011 crime drama called "Drive," where he showcased an impeccable performance as a criminal. However, it is unknown if it will be his appearance or voice that will be used.

In terms of this cast selection, the developer is said to reutilize the idea of the already cancelled PS4-exclusive, "Silent Hills," which was supposed to feature "The Walking Dead" fan-favorite Norman Reedus aka Daryl Dixon.

Gameplay-wise, there's word that Rockstar is working on adding a good guy to the fold. This means that instead of being a bad guy doing all the looting and lawbreaking in in the city, gamers can actually play the role of a cop this time, to catch these felons instead.

Lastly, it is also being reported that the upcoming title will bring back the six-star Wanted Level, earlier featured in "GTA 4." In "GTA 5," players were only allowed to reach five-star. It would be a welcome upgrade for "GTA 6" to have that scale back.

"GTA 6" is expected to come out in 2018.
