Juliette's death is the "Grimm" executive producers' way of giving her and Nick's love story a bitter end. David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf are resolutely advising fans to give up on waiting for the veterinarian's return because she won't. But then again, fans have reason to believe Juliette is not dead.
Everyone thought back in season 3 that Captain Sean Renard was dead, only to find out he is back in action as season 4 of the show kicked in. The same could happen to the veterinarian-turned-Hexenbeist, who met her demise in the hands of Trubel.
"I think it keeps everyone on edge," Kouf told TV Line of the shocking twist that led to Juliette's terrible fate. "You don't know what's going to happen. Anything could happen. It seems like a few shows, episode whatever, they get married or they finally get together. We decided to go a different way."
Meanwhile, with Juliette now gone, fans can expect season 5 to be "even bigger, even darker and even weirder."
"You know, it's not going to be the same 'Grimm'. You know, I think it's where it naturally will go," Greenwalt told The Hollywood Reporter.
While it is too early for Nick to think about relationships (he is still reeling from the death of his girlfriend and mother and it will be a long way to go), media outlets are asking the possibility of a new love, which he might find in Adalind come "Grimm" season 5.
"Well, something's gotta happen, one way or the other. He's gotta be responsible for the child," Greenwalt said, with Kouf adding, "He's got a child and he's got to step up at some point. He knows he can't abandon his child. He was abandoned."
However, they did not provide anything that could lead to such romance, with Kouf simply saying that "they have to try" to see whether or not they could ever actually be attracted to each other. The upcoming season could delve into that, too.
"Grimm" season 5 will premiere in fall with the cast filming next week.
