"Gran Turismo 7" is currently in development for the PlayStation 4, with developer Polyphony Digital reportedly seeking engineers to work on the game's AI, graphics and other aspects. Eurogamer recently got to interview Sony Computer Entertainment President Shuhei Yoshida, who indicated the game may also support the Playstation VR.

The PlayStation VR, previously known under its code name "Project Morpheus," will be a direct rival to the Oculus Rift and feature full virtual-reality technology for video games and supported media such as movies and television programs.

The Eurogamer representative pointed out that Sony does have several IPs that would fit well with the PlayStation VRs technology, including racing titles such as the upcoming "Gran Turismo 7."

In response to this Yoshida stated, "Many trial tests we've been doing, some genres work just fine. One of those genres is racing games. So when 'Gran Turismo' comes out on PS4, I'd like to see it support PlayStation VR, yeah."

However, Yoshida's statements do not immediately confirm that the game will indeed support the PlayStation VR, although according to iDigital Times, the mere fact that a member of the board has stated his opinion on the matter hints that support might be implemented further down the line, especially if the PlayStation VR proves a success.

The report also points out that "Driveclub" was the first title to officially confirm support for the PlayStation VR, although Yoshida explained that there was room for improvement since the current performance did lead to motion sickness. This problem may have to be resolved first before "Gran Turismo 7" would be given PlayStation VR support.

While other game titles such as "Assetto Corsa," "Project CARS," and "Grid Autosport" have been confirmed not to support the PlayStation VR, they will be compatible with the Oculus Rift.

"Gran Turismo 7" has no release date at the time of writing but is speculated to be released sometime in 2017.
