Gordon Ramsay takes aim at overweight chefs during interview in Australia

Any aspiring chef who dreams to work under Gordon Ramsay someday should probably try to see if he or she needs to lose some weight first.

The Multi-Awarded Chef and television personality is currently in Australia to promote his latest book, Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Fit Food. During his promotional tour, Ramsay sat down with The Daily Telegraph to talk about how being fit is important for the image of somebody who is working in the food business, saying that seeing an overweight chef working in the kitchen makes him cringe.

"All that [expletive] about never trusting a skinny chef, you should never trust a fat [expletive] because they've eaten all the best parts. It's the skinny (chefs) you should be in awe of because they're saving the best bits for you. Every time I see a fat chef, having been one, I cringe." He told the Australian publication.

He also said in the interview that a chef's size does not affect the quality of the food he serves in any way, so being a big chef does not automatically mean that the food he or she will be serving is going to be excellent.

Ramsay's desire to spread the awareness of stemmed from a number of reasons. Probably the biggest eye opener was the death of his father, who died of a heart attack in 1997 at 53 years old.

"For me, the thing that scares me the most is not having a healthy lifestyle is that, at age 53, my father died of a heart attack, so that is a constant reminder of being super fit," he said.

The "Master Chef" host uses this reminder to always keep his weight in check. He revealed that there was a point in his life that weighed as much as 120 kilograms, and the Jeers from spectators when he was participating in the 2001 London Marathon prompted him to make sure that he would never be obese again.

"I remember coming past mile 22 and people shouting: 'Hey Ramsay, you fat b******, you're not so hard now,' and asking me if I'd lost my sports bra."

The outspoken chef has since been in the best shape of his life. Ramsay is set to come back as the host of the 2018 season of Masterchef.
