Glasgow Outreach Project Continues to Spread Good News

The Glasgow Outreach Project - or Go Project - continues to go from strength to strength as more and more churches in the city express their interest in its vision to bring the gospel to Glasgow schools.

The Go Project is an initiative of Scripture Union Scotland and was launched earlier in the year, headed by Steve Davies.

Its vision is to establish a team of three school workers to support Christian witness among pupils, staff and parents in schools across Glasgow, Scotland's largest city.

The project is hoping for as much success as the Edinburgh es-team enjoyed with a similar mission venture.

Throughout August, Davies was in churches across Glasgow bringing the vision to local congregations and gathering their support for the project. He was warmly received and now many Christians in the city are keen to find out more about what they can do to support the project.

Particularly touching is the generosity that has been shown by the city's Christians, who have given donations totalling £23,500, with a further £10,000 raised from one-off donations in the last year.

Davies shared the project's two major themes: "The first is dependence on God - we're seeking to learn more of what this means, for a project which still has a daunting mountain to climb.

"And the second is deepening relationships - we hope that here in Glasgow we will be able to keep on building and nurturing relationships with churches, other organisations and our many supporters," he explained.

Davies is appealing for the prayerful support of Christians in Glasgow and across Scotland so that more people will join the Glasgow Action Group - the team behind the GO Project.

He also appealed for prayers so that churches and individuals translate genuine concern into decisive action and for the financial support to reach the project's target of £120,000 a year.

But Davies' ultimate prayer was for the hearts of the very people that the project will touch - the teachers, pupils and families - that their faith might be strengthened, and for the young people of the city to become disciples of Christ and reach their friends with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
