It appears that a lot of hit TV shows from the 90s are getting a revival and most of the time it all starts with a cast reunion. Fans of "Friends," the show that catapulted Jennifer Aniston's career, have been clamoring for a reunion for years but now fellow cast member Courtney Cox has spilled the beans on why a reunion has never happened.
Courtney Cox, who portrayed Monica Geller in the series, was recently interviewed by Yahoo and she revealed that the cast members haven't even been in the same room since "Friends" ended a good decade ago. When asked why they haven't had a proper reunion, Cox replied with the following statement:
"We've not really had a Friends reunion. We've gotten about 80% there, but there's always one person who flakes at the end ... I'm not going to name names, but it may not be Schwimmer."
A film sequel had been rumored for several years. Courtney Cox denied rumors of a film way back in 2010 and so did series co-creator Marta Kauffman. When Cox was asked if they would reunite for a TV or film revival she replied, "Dear Lord, let it go people! We're not doing it. It's just not gonna happen."
David Schwimmer, who played Ross Geller, has been staying out of the spotlight for some time. His most notable recent appearance was at the John Varvatos 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit with his daughter Cleo.
"Friends" starred Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc. The show ran from 1994 to 2004, encompassing 10 seasons and 236 episodes.
While "Friends" may never be revived and the cast may not get together for a reunion, most of the cast have moved on with their film and TV careers. Courtney Cox directorial debut just opened in the United States with the film "Just Before I Go," which stars Seann William Scott.
