Floyd Mayweather next fight 2015 news: Kell Brook believes he should be next opponent

Following Amir Khan's statement that a fight with Floyd Mayweather could be confirmed within two weeks, his fellow British boxer Kell Brook believes he should be the next one facing the undefeated welterweight.

Khan felt he is closer to making the fight with Mayweather a reality after defeating Chris Algieri via unanimous decision in New York on May 29.

Meanwhile, Brook also had a successful title defense against Frankie Gavin scoring a TKO win to keep an unblemished 35-0 record one day after Khan's victory.

"If anyone is getting that Mayweather fight it's me. I'm unbeaten, never been beat, never been close to being beat. I'm world champion," the 29-year-old stated according to ESPN.

The two British sluggers are also being linked to fight one another but Khan previously said that Brook brings nothing to the table and does not deserve to fight him.

Brook fired back on Khan saying in an interview with ESPN's Steve Bunce, "Every time Amir Khan steps up he gets beat, he gets knocked out. He didn't look very good in his last fight I've been told. I heard it could have gone either way."

"He's being very clever with his opponents; he's not been in with genuine welterweights," he added.

Brook also spoke to Bunce about the possible fight with Khan who currently holds a 31-3 record.

"It's a massive fight in Britain domestically, it's huge internationally. I think everybody all over the world wants to see the fight between me and Khan," Brook said.

He added that Khan should stop hiding and should just face him in the ring, ESPN reported.

"If he thinks I'm an easy opponent... and he can beat me by ease then why not get an IBF world title belt and then you've got that pulling power and you can really shout loud for the Mayweather fight."
