When developer Scott Cawthon announced that there will be a spin-off role-playing title from the "Five Nights at Freddy's" series of games, fans expected that the game would launch much earlier than announced, as what Cawthon did in past releases.

The developer did release the "Five Nights at Freddy's World" weeks earlier than the scheduled roll-out. However, the release was too early according to some observers, and Cawthon himself admitted that the premature release affected the game itself.

According to the developer's post on the game's Steam Community page, "Five Nights at Freddy's World" is the first title in Cawthon's portfolio where the developer felt that the roll-out was rushed.

Cawthon stated, "You know, I've been accused of rushing my games ever since 'FNaF' 1, but I've never felt that I'd released a game too early... until now."

Cawthon also acknowledged the fact that the lukewarm feedback to the title is warranted, since "There are a lot of features that this game should have had before release, features that I was told about, but ignored and didn't implement. Features such as being able to see what abilities do during battle, or being able to see a stats page for your characters. These are features that any good RPG would have."

"Five Nights at Freddy's World" was originally scheduled to launch on Feb. 19 for the PC, with the mobile versions for iOS and Android devices rolling out in the weeks after. However, Cawthon released the PC version much earlier, and the game is currently available on Steam.

Some fans and observers who already played the game felt that "Five Nights at Freddy's World" was much too hyped, and the game continues to have lukewarm reception in the gaming community.

According to PC Gamer, while the game still enjoys a positive feedback, some of the negative reviews have specific complaints, some of which Cawthon addressed in his statement like the lack of certain RPG elements and features.

The developer on his part promised to continue working on the game and will come out with updates in the future.
