The next expansion pack of "Final Fantasy XIV," titled "Stormblood," will come out in summer next year, game director Naoki Yoshida said.

The announcement for the second major DLC of "Final Fantasy XIV" came during the Final Fantasy IV 2016 fan fest in Las Vegas last Friday. Yoshida unveiled the details of the upcoming DLC and the game's 4.0 update during the said event.

According to Yoshida, the events included the expansion pack will happen in the desert town known as Ala Mhigo, where players will have to defend themselves against the oppression under the leadership of a new villain, Zenos Yae Galvus.

The expansion is also reportedly centered on the monk class of the game, where they will face the challenge of defeating their enemy in order to put Ala Mhigo back under the control of the Eorzean.

On the other hand, the game's 4.0 update will come with a lot of new features including new primals, a new residential area that is mentioned to have a direct effect on the game's main storyline, a new inventory system upgrade that is developed to expand and boost the game's present item slots, an improved skill system that will highlight the roles of the players, and new jobs.

While game developer Square Enix opted not to provide additional information about the kinds of jobs that will be introduced in the update, Yoshida dropped a hint that red mages will be added to the game after pointing to Marvel's Scarlet Witch shirt that he was wearing during the event.

Square Enix also revealed during the event that they will start increasing the minimum PC specs of the game, which means that PC players must upgrade their system to 64-bit. They also announced that they will drop their PlayStation 3 support for the game.

Fans of "Final Fantasy XIV" should expect to hear more details about the Stormblood DLC before the game's release in summer 2017.
