Square-Enix's "Final Fantasy" series is seing a resurgence in popularity as this year marks the release of "Final Fantasy XV" and the confirmation that "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is coming out soon for the PS4. More "Final Fantasy" games are coming as a report from Video Gamer reveals Square-Enix is set to release four different games for the PC.
According to the report, a listing on Amazon UK reveals that there will be two separate physical PC games being launched in May. The first boxed set will contain the PC ports of "Final Fantasy III" and "Final Fantasy IV" while the other will contain the PC versions of "Final Fantasy VII" and "Final Fantasy VIII."
"Final Fantasy VII" has recently been re-released for the PC back in 2012 and the re-release version does contain several improvements, including better audio tracks, cleaner graphics, cloud saving and the ability to input cheats that make it easier to max out character stats and others.
The PC also saw a re-release of "Final Fantasy VIII" back in 2013 when it was also brought into the Steam network. The original PC release was back in 2000.
It is important to note that the box art for "Final Fantasy III" and "Final Fantasy IV" reveals they will be the 3D remakes of the games, based on previous PC ports which themselves were carry-overs from the Nintendo DS originals.
According to a report from IGN, the box sets will contain a manual and a disc but the disc will not have the full game included. Instead, users will need to be connected to the Internet and download the full game with the disc inserted into their computer. It is speculated by fans that this is Square-Enix's measure of combating piracy.
The new PC ports of the four games will be highly optimized for the PC, hinting at newer options, better resolution options and a higher framerate.
