"Fear the Walking Dead" season 1 ended with a few gruesome deaths and the team of survivors deciding to head over to Strand's (Colman Domingo) yacht in order to escape the zombie horde and live out at sea. However, showrunner Dave Erickson revealed to Entertainment Weekly that this plan may not go as smoothly as desired.
"First of all, getting to the yacht is going to be something of a challenge. And then the question becomes: Once we get to it, which way is it going to go? And we will discover that we were not the only ones with this bright idea," he explained.
He continued to explain that there will be others with vessels of their own and there will be others who will be "covetous" of their plan, indicating that Strand's yacht might be raided or stolen by other desperate survivors trying to make it out to sea.
In TellTale Games' "The Walking Dead: The Game" series, the character Kenny and his family also planned of heading to the docks where Kenny had a boat that they could use to escape and survive on. However, this plan never came to fruition due to the events that unfolded in the series.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Erickson also confirmed that "Cobalt," the military plan to evacuate and "humanely terminate" everyone else, will be further explored in season 2. He confirmed that the plan to retreat to the desert is real and that the military still has plans, although he did not reveal what those plans might lead up to.
He also stated that the military will also have their own plans at sea and beyond.
He explained that at this point in "Fear," the series has not yet reached the moment where Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) has awoken from his coma, which is when "Cobalt" has already been executed.
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 doesn't premiere until 2016, although a new web-series titled "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462" has officially launched. The sixth season of the flagship series, "The Walking Dead," will premiere this Oct. 11.
