Warner Bros. Pictures has released a 15-second announcement trailer that reveals the first official trailer for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will launch on Dec. 15. The rest of the announcement showcases the film's official logo and then doesn't reveal anything further, not even a single look at the characters.

The official trailer is expected to give a good look at the main character and the period-piece setting of the film while also establishing that this is set in the same universe as the "Harry Potter" films despite not being a direct prequel.

As stated in a report from IGN, there are only a few details known regarding the film at this point. The movie takes place in 1926 New York, roughly 70 years prior to the core "Harry Potter" films, and focuses on Newt Scamander (Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne) during his journey to gather magical beasts.

His published book is later seen as a study material in the "Harry Potter" films. The character's name is also shown once in the Marauder's Map but this would imply the character is still alive and well despite being quite old, something that may be possible in the magical world of "Harry Potter."

Joining Redmayne in the film are Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler. According to the report, they will be dealing with the persecution of wizards in America by the No-Maj, the American term for the Muggles or ordinary people without magical capabilities. It will also be the first time to showcase the American counterpart of Hogwarts.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be directed by David Yates, who helmed the last four "Harry Potter" films and is based on a screenplay by author J.K Rowling herself, the author of the "Harry Potter" novels. This will be Rowling's screenplay debut.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will release on Nov. 18, 2016.
