After Bethesda announced the release of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition back in June, the game developer revealed that the compilation game's PlayStation 4 version will not be mod-friendly upon release.

According to the game developer, PlayStation 4 manufacturer Sony Interactive Entertainment will restrain the function of user mods in "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition as well as the studio's other game, "Fallout 4."

Bethesda released a public statement about the mod restrictions that was posted on Gematsu. The game studio revealed that they were also saddened by the console manufacturer's decision since they know that the fans waited for a long time to arrive.

"We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available," the game developer said.

However, Bethesda also mentioned that they will soon release another update in case Sony's decision changes.

The "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition is expected to come out with the original game that was released worldwide in 2011 as well as all of the three expansion packs including the "Dawnguard" DLC, the "Hearthfire" DLC, as well as the "Dragonborn" DLC. It will also include the game's patch 1.9 upon release.

Aside from PlayStation 4 users, those who play "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" using Xbox One could also purchase the special edition pack next month. Meanwhile, PC users who already have the original game and the complete set of all the three downloadable content will get hold of the special edition release with no added charge.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition pack is slated to come out worldwide on Oct. 26.
