When the "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was released by Bethesda Softworks in 2011, it became a breakthrough success, spawning thousands of memes and fans around the world. Its fifth anniversary will be later this year, and players are expecting a lot of special content to be made available by then. So when the rumor came out that Bethesda Softworks is developing "The Elder Scrolls VI," fans cheered and eagerly awaited news about it. It does seem like this would take a while, though, since Yibada reports that the sixth "Elder Scrolls" title might just be released in 2019.

However, according to Christian Times, rumors strongly suggest that the Electronic Entertainment Expo this June 14 to 16 will not feature any announcements related to the sixth installment to the franchise, since the game studio is planning to unveil the remastered version of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" video game. With this update, "Skyrim" may then be playable on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms. However, completely remastering a video game is not as easy as it seems, so this project may just take as much time as creating a new game entirely.

The rumor about the "Elder Scrolls VI" title started when the vice president of Bethesda, Pete Hines, mentioned in an interview that it is under development. He even hinted at this as "Skyrim 2", which might mean that it is going to be related to the previous title.

He said, "It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about 'when is Skyrim 2 coming out?' The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015."

There are still no other official announcements from Bethesda, according to Ecumenical News. Everything is connected to rumors, so it is best to take it all with a grain of salt, at least until Bethesda finally announces something at E3.
