Ed Sheeran new album 2016 news: Song from next record to be featured in 'The Brothers Grimsby'

Ed Shereen recently posted via Instagram that he would be going on a hiatus for a while but also confirmed that his third studio album was on the way. According to a report from The Sun, fans may be able to get an early preview of his new album with the release of the upcoming movie "The Brothers Grimsby" as one of the album's songs will be featured in the flick.

However, the song will not be available for downloading or streaming and it will not become available as part of the movie's official soundtrack. The song will not be available via Spotify either. Instead, it can only be heard while watching the movie or when the film's lead Sacha Baron Cohen plays the song while promoting the film.

The report continues to point out that the song was co-written by Ed Sheeran and his long-time collaborator, Benny Blanco. Blanco is known for his work with other pop stars such as Rihanna and Justin Bieber. Unfortunately, the exact title and style of the song has yet to be unveiled.

"During Ed's early days Sacha wasn't really familiar with his work," the unidentified source stated in regards to Sheeran and Cohen's collaboration. "He had no idea who he was when they were introduced. But they're both creative geniuses and have an obvious connection on that front, agreeing to help each other out where possible."

The report continues to explain that over the years the two have become strong friends, leading to the collaborative effort for "The Brothers Grimsby." Despite the song's inclusion in the film, it is still undetermined when the actual album will be out, although it is speculatd to see a fall release.

Sheeran's previous album, "X," was released back in 2014 and has already surpassed over 2.04 million sales. The singer also won his first Grammy Award this year, claiming the Song of the Year award for his song "Thinking Out Loud."
