Ed Sheeran discloses details about substance abuse: 'I just found myself slipping into all of them'

"Stone Cold" singer and former Disney child actress Demi Lovato recently opened up about her drug abuse in a documentary. This time, it was "Shape of You" singer Ed Sheeran who talked about his problem of the same kind.

The 26-year-old singer, known for his hit songs "Thinking Out Loud" and "Galway Girl," revealed details during his guest stint on "The Jonathan Ross Show" on Sunday, Oct. 22. He talked about his substance abuse. This was the first time that the songwriter spilled information on the issue.

Sheeran divulged that he did not quite adjust to the industry at first as he had tours left and right, and he went on to explain that everything had gone too fast for him that he did not have the chance to experience growing up in fame with adequate time. "All the pitfalls that people read about, I just found myself slipping into all of them. Mostly, like, substance abuse," he added.

The Brit Award winner further explained that he needed to take the time off in order to avoid the dark path he seemed to be taking. Sheeran also said that he had veered his attention to work to avoid the temptation, which had, at some point, become a problem that he himself did not notice.

Sheeran then recounted how he reunited with a high school friend who had greatly helped him shift away from the impulse. He added that he was now living with the girl, who "balanced" him out.

The Grammy Award winner also narrated how he got the injuries that had made him miss some of his tours. Apparently, Sheeran met an accident while riding his bicycle, which resulted in a broken wrist, rib, and elbow. He also disclosed that doctors instructed him to cancel some of his shows to help his body take its natural course of healing.
