'Dead Island 2' release date news: Zombie game gives E3 2016 a miss

"Dead Island 2" is an upcoming action role-playing survival horror video game sequel developed by Sumo Digital. It is expected to arrive before 2016 ends. Deep Silver

Fans expected that "Dead Island 2" would be presented at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, but this was not the case. Deep Silver, the game publisher, also skipped the previous E3 show. Fans are now wondering if the game sequel will still arrive.

It was previously reported that the game was expected to get a late 2016 release and fans were anticipating new information about the upcoming game at the said event.

"Dead Island 2" is still under development and is still worked on by Sumo Digital, which took over last March. The production was taken from Yager Development, which stopped working on the game in July 2015, when Deep Silver ties with it, MCVUK reported.

MCrunch added that the the change in studios for the sequel may provide a negative effect for the game. The final product may not be as slick as the publisher wanted it to be.  Fans were also thinking that the game was cancelled becuase of the sudden disappearnace of its Steam page on March 30.  This was after the announcement that a new developer would be taking over.

Inverse reported that the "Dead Island" sequel was one of the games that fans are highly anticipating to see at the E3. Some of the other games were "Red Dead Redemption 2," "Crackdown II," "No Man's Sky," "Agent," and "Beyond Good & Evil 2." Gamers are aware about the intricacies of game development, but news or a new trailer would have provided new info on the game.

"Dead Island 2" will be available for the Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and is now expected to get a late 2016 release.
