Church Attacked by Muslim Extremists in Pakistan

|TOP|Another Church has been attacked in Pakistan. In the village of Kanwanlit, approximately two miles from Daska, a sub district of Sailkot, reports ASSIST News Service.

The attack occurred at 10:00am on Friday 3rd February, and consisted of Muslim men and women. The attackers were responsible for the smashing of doors, a window and the church alter.

The attackers also desecrated the Bible and Hymn books, allegedly by trampling them underfoot and by spitting on them.

ASSIST News Service reports that local Christian residents attempted to stop the actions of the attackers. The church attackers are said to have asked the Muslim women “to teach them [the intervening Christians] a lesson.”

|AD|A scuffle between the Muslim and Christian women then broke out, whilst the Christian men were forced at gunpoint to stand aside by the Muslim men.

The Christian women were tortured by the Muslim women, resulting in severe serious injuries for two Christian women named Verro and Salima. Verro had both her legs broken.

The police of the Daska Saddar Police Station, are responsible for the area. However the police did not appear until after the Church had been ransacked and desecrated by the Muslim attackers.

Last year, at the same location on Nov. 13th, there were attacks on churches in Sangla Hill, a tehsil (administrative division) of Nankana Sahib.

There are fears of more attacks on Churches following the uproar over the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad printed in European newspapers.
