Christians mobilised for prayer

Christians are being called to a weekend of prayer and fasting in September.

HOPE is holding the All Praying Together weekend from 7 to 9 September, and is inviting churches and individuals to be part of it.

Special resources have been put together to ensure Christians of every age and worship style can join the movement of prayer.

The resources include fasting guides, Bible studies, all-age prayer activities, a youth pack, a children’s pack, creative ideas, reflections on the Lord’s Prayer, liturgy, church service and sermon outlines.

Plans to hold the All Praying Together weekend began at the HOPE Leaders’ Forum in 2011 when the event’s host, Pastor Agu Irukwu, Senior Pastor at Jesus House, described the Church as "a body of reformers" and called for united prayer and fasting for the nation.

“The more seriously we approach prayer and fasting, the more serious the results we will experience in our missional journey,” said Pastor Irukwu.

HOPE has been out at the summer youth festivals to encourage thousands of teenagers to play their "PART" - Pray, Abstain, and Reach out Together.

They will receive a card to remind them to pray, fast, and share hope through words and actions in their community.

The All Praying Together event ties in with the cascade of prayer taking place throughout the Games and the National Day of Prayer on 29 September, to be attended by thousands at Wembley.

Roy Crowne, Executive Director of HOPE said: "We know we have a powerful God and that prayer can change situations.

"As ambassadors of God’s heavenly kingdom let’s be praying as well as responding to needs in our villages, towns and cities.

"All Praying Together focuses on prayer for God to renew the Church, equipping us to reach out into our communities in words and action."
