'Celebrity Big Brother' 2016 rumor: The Kardashians want Jonathan Cheban to opt out of the show

Channel 5

The 2016 edition of "Celebrity Big Brother" is slated to launch on Tuesday, Jan. 5. It means that the world will finally find out who will enter the controversial reality show house.

Channel 5 recently revealed that the upcoming season of "Celebrity Big Brother" will have a "vaudeville" theme, complete with sparkling home decors and shimmering interiors.

"What lies in store for the cast of new recruits nervously waiting in the wings?," the show's teaser said. "Which celebrity Housemate will shine in the leading role and win...and who will be evicted as the understudies? This year Big Brother is hosting a spectacular that will captivate and delight viewers, as they witness brand new Housemates adapting to life under the glare of Big Brother's limelight."

There have been several rumors about who will be part of "Celebrity Big Brother 2016." Among those speculated to join the show are "MTV's Ex on the Beach" cast member Megan McKenna, "VH1's Flavour of Love" star Tiffany Pollard, "Nip/Tuck" alum William Belli, "TOWIE" star James Lock, rapper Vanilla Ice, Nadya Suleman aka Octomom, former "Celebrity Love Island" cast member Rachel Christie, Kourtney Kardashian's baby daddy Scott Disick, and Kim Kardashian's best friend Jonathan Cheban.

But Cheban's possible appearance on the show is reportedly being blocked by his best friend and her mother Kris Jenner.

A source reportedly told Mirror UK that the Kardashians are strongly opposed to Cheban's stint in "Celebrity Big Brother."

"Kim and her mum took Jonathan to one side and had a heartfelt chat, promising to make him a bigger character on their show with more prominent storylines," the report claimed.

Cheban has appeared in several episodes of the Kardashian family's reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

According to the speculations, they are worried about what he will reveal about their family while the cameras are filming.

The 2-hour launch of "Celebrity Big Brother 2016" airs Jan. 5 on Channel 5.
