Boxing news 2015: Manny Pacquiao not the same boxer according to Shawn Porter

Shawn Porter recently overcame a tough test beating Adrien Broner Saturday for his 26th victory but before his bout said in a radio interview that eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao is no longer the boxer he was before.

In a portion of his interview with "On The Ropes," Porter discussed what it was like working with Pacquiao as his sparring mate and what he learned from the Filipino slugger.

"Looking back on those experiences, I know that I'm doing what I'm supposed to do right now. I watch Manny train, he trains very hard and when it was time to get in the ring and put it down, he was always ready for that," Porter said.

"I learned that from him, I learned how to work hard and just keep learning. It's an everyday process, one day at a time and I think more than anything when I look back at those experiences, I just know that I'm in the right places and I'm doing the right thing," he added.

The 27-year-old also shared his thoughts on the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight which received criticisms for lack of action.

"I was there, I thought the fight was very good. I thought Mayweather just did what he always does, he outclasses his opponents and that's what he was able to do against Manny," Porter stated.

He thinks the fans were disappointed because they did not expect Mayweather to be in an excellent defensive fight against Pacquiao.

Porter also believes Pacquiao's knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez placed him on a decline.

"One reason obviously being that Manny had recently been knocked out in the last few years and he wasn't the fighter he once was. I just think that Floyd had a great night and he's proven himself to be a great fighter," Porter explained.

Before his fight Saturday, Porter said a win over Broner was enough to catapult him into the mix for Floyd Mayweather's next opponent.

"Sure it is, they have similar styles. Adrien has said on more than one occasion that Floyd is his big brother. He's emulated not only his style but his career after Floyd Mayweather," Porter told On The Ropes.
