With the launch of the "Attack on Titan" game nearing, Koei Tecmo is giving out new info as to what to expect of the much-awaited title. Just recently, the developer revealed that there will be 10 playable characters in the game.

These characters include Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Krista, Sasha, Connie, Jean, Levi, Hanji and Erwin. For those who wonder why characters like Reiner and Ymir were excluded, game director Tomoyuki Kitamura explained that it was an effort to stay as close to the source material as possible.

He explained in an interview with Famitsu that the roster was based on the points of view of the characters that help tell the story of the first season of the "Attack on Titan" anime. As for Erwin, Kitamura believes that he is just too vital to leave out.

Even though the game will be based on the anime (making it easy for fans who watched the show or read the manga), gamers can expect additional crumbs of story that will allow them to learn a bit more about the characters.

Although some characters won't be playable, they will still appear in the "Attack on Titan" game. Apart from Ymir and Reiner, the likes of Bertolt, Marco, Keith, Pyxis, Ian, Rico and the female titan will make appearance in the highly anticipated title.

In the game, players will get to experience what Koei Tecmo calls the "Investigation Outside the Walls" mode. Here, players can send a character on a roaming spree. Destructoid says that this should boost the stats of the characters.

Meanwhile, on the Warriors "Free" mode of "Attack on Titan," players can select a mission and a character. It is also noted that slaying Titans as a group is deemed a semi-required strategy. When the flesh-eating giants are defeated, some of them will drop items or soldiers they ate.

"Attack on Titan" will be released for the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in Japan on Feb. 18. The game will also be released in the U.S. and Europe after.
