'Assassin's Creed Unity' for PC to run at 900p for PS4 and Xbox One, 1080p

With the "Assassin's Creed Unity" by Ubisoft coming soon, reports have surfaced about the display resolutions the game will be capable of in certain game consoles. While the game will come at 900p for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, it will be locked at 1080p for Windows PC.

The decision for locking the game at 30 frames per second for PS4 and Xbox One has been met with mixed criticisms due to the fact that avid gamers go for 60 frames per second.

According to VideoGamer.com, "Assassin's Creed Unity" senior producer Vincent Pontbriand stated that the PS4 and Xbox One CPUs may not be able to keep up with the need to accommodate "the game's massive crowds."

"Technically we're CPU-bound," Pontbriand explained. "The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it's the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel."

Pontbriand also mentioned to VideoGamer.com that the studio "decided to lock [both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions] at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff."

There has been stiff competition between the PS4 and Xbox One since these were introduced last year, especially with the concern that the Xbox One may not be as efficient and powerful as Sony's offering.  Such issue was based on reviews and criticisms about games often having to run at a slightly lower resolution when used on Xbox One. Developers have pointed out that this is an insignificant component in terms of visuals.

While Ubisoft released "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" last fall with a resolution of 900p for the PS 4 and Xbox One, the game developer also made available a patch that allowed PS 4 users to upgrade the game's visuals to 1080p.

However, speculations have surfaced that Ubisoft may not do the same with "Assassin's Creed Unity."
