Archbishop, comedian Miranda Hart get behind mental health app

The Archbishop of Canterbury and comedian Miranda Hart have endorsed a new mental health app that helps to build a support network around people who may be struggling.

The SoulTime uses AI to track people's moods and identify any significant changes.

Users can invite five close friends to be in their support work.  The technology then works to recognise when the user could do with a phone call and sends a prompt to those friends.

Other features in the app included meditations and music to help people take care of their mental health.

The app has been launched at a time when many people are struggling with the isolation brought on by the coronavirus lockdown.

It was developed by Mark Wagner out of a recognition that many people feel unable to ask others for help.

Call the Midwife star Miranda Hart is encouraging people to use the app: "Well it certainly feels like the time for some Soultime and they do it beautifully.

"There's always a time to listen to our soul, and ever more now. Soultime is a beautiful, unique way to meet our ever important core needs of connection and peace."

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby agrees, "Soultime is a wonderful app, it is a beautiful and quiet and accessible way of drawing close to God. I warmly recommend it."
