Fans who find their Apple Watches lacking, even with the Watch OS 2 update, can look forward to next year, as it is rumored that Apple is already hard at work developing the next-gen wearable.
According to Apple fansite Cult of Mac, there are already plenty of rumors floating around that Apple will be releasing the second-gen Watch next year, and more than providing a wearable connectivity option for an iPhone, the next-gen Apple Watch is expected to also focus more on fitness.
Meanwhile, according to a report by CNET, next year's Apple Watch edition is already in development, as what the observer glimpsed from a Chinese news site. According to the report, Quanta Computer, a tech and electronics company in Taiwan and also the supplier for the current Apple Watch, has been quoted in an investor's meeting as saying that the development for the next-gen wearable is running smoothly, and that next year's edition would be much better compared to the first iteration of the Apple wearable. The report also indicated that aside from a fully upgraded hardware, the Apple Watch 2 will also come with an updated firmware, which begs the question if Apple will once again come out with a new edition of its own wearable platform or just develop an updated version of the Watch OS 2.
However, 9to5Mac surmised that although next year's Watch will be an upgraded version, some of the specs (at least for the time being) will remain the same, particularly the battery life. One of the many drawbacks that users of the Apple Watch lament is the one-day life cycle of the Watch, where the wearable needs to be charged daily.
Apple has yet to come out with any details about the upcoming Apple Watch, but speculations say the Watch 2 will release during the second or third quarter of 2016.
