Angelina Jolie admits 'By the Sea' an avenue to communicate with Brad Pitt

Actress Angelina Jolie recently revealed that her 2015 film with husband Brad Pitt had the sense of "heaviness" on the set and that it was an avenue for communication between the two of them.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter podcast, the "Salt" actress admitted that the film "By The Sea," which she wrote and directed, was an important platform for communication between her and Pitt. "I wanted us to do some serious work together, I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate. In some ways it was, and in some ways we learned some things. But there was a heaviness probably during that situation that carried on and it wasn't because of the film," she shared.

"By the Sea" narrates a story of a couple, who have been together for 14 years and are growing apart because of several issues like communication problems. When asked about the film, Jolie explained, "A piece of art can be something that's healing or something that's difficult."

The 42-year-old award-winning actress added that the film was a big help in terms of communication, though it did not solve other matters. Even so, Jolie explained that she was happy that she and Pitt did the film together.

It can be remembered that Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, shocking everyone who regarded the two as a celebrity power couple. Since then, there had been numerous reasons linked to the decision although the two had kept mostly mum about this sensitive topic.

Jolie and Pitt met on the set of the 2005 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," where they were paired opposite each other. They had been together for more than 10 years and decided to exchange vows in August 2014. They are blessed with six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.
