Android 5.1.1 Lollipop releases to Nexus 6 on T-Mobile

At long last, T-Mobile's Nexus 6 units will finally receive the coveted, long demanded Wi-Fi calling capability. This feature will come packaged with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which is currently rolling out only to a small number of users who rock the phablet.

The initial rollout of the newest build of the operating system to the Motorola-made device will only cover a certain portion of users so in the event that serious undetected problems emerge, it will be unproblematic to accommodate them.

Android Headlines says that T-Mobile's decision to roll out the update to a select number of users is also due to the UNcarrier's reduced staff on Memorial Day. With only a small number of patrons involved, the situation will be easily handled and managed even with only a few personnel on duty.

T-Mobile product evangelist Des Smith feared once that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will take a while to arrive. This is because the company discovered bugs plaguing the update. He was one of the happiest people when T-Mobile approved of the rollout to the Nexus 6.

The chosen T-Mobile customers to receive the update should have received a notification prompt already. The availability of the OS with build number LYZ28E can also be checked on the device's settings for those who are curious. The download is 125 MB in size.

Apart from the Wi-Fi calling feature, which Nexus 6 owners have been waiting to see and experience, users will also be treated to bug fixes and improvements on the battery life. And when T-Mobile has made certain that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop does what it's supposed to do, a wider rollout will be set up.

On the other hand, a leaked memo from Sprint revealed that customers with the Nexus 6 under its network will receive Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on May 26, which is tomorrow. If this is accurate, the carrier should drop the bomb anytime now.
