Samsung Galaxy A5 gets Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy A5 took a whole month before it moved from Poland, where it first landed, to Russia.

The update is being rolled out over the air so a notification pop-up is expected to have shown up by now. If for some reason it hasn't, presumably because such types of rollout are done in phases, it always pays to manually check the settings and the system updates and install it from there.

For those who do not want to wait for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop to drop on their notification tray, it is best to simply install the update via PC with the use of Samsung Kies. The said update is dated June 17 and comes in a decent size of 920 MB.

YouMobile reports that all Samsung Galaxy A5 units in Russia will be donning Android 5.0.2 before the month of July ends. It is also expected that other regions will be able to get it, too. However, a specific release date is too difficult to pinpoint.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is an incremental update. A newly revamped notification and lockscreen will greet the users. With it on board the Samsung Galaxy A5, users will get to enjoy the bold colors and vibrant animations brought about by the all new Material design.

More than aesthetics, there's a new Battery Saver feature that reportedly extends the battery life by 90 minutes. Owners can also enjoy better security with the Android Smart Lock feature, which only pairs the Galaxy A5 to a trusted device. In addition, users can now swipe down twice to access the frequently used settings, use voice by saying "OK Google," and respond to messages straight from the lockscreen. Connectivity is reportedly better and the inclusion of Android TV spices things up.
