Amiibo Wave 4 news: gold Super Mario availability, Marth restock details revealed

Silver Mario Amiibo Nintendo

It is an ongoing battle (and a very cutthroat one at that) when it comes to amiibo toys. Due to the meager supply of the Nintendo-made figurines, collectors and gamers do just about everything to get a hold of the precious statuettes, like the ever-so-rare Marth amiibo.

Nintendo has vowed to restock the figure inspired by the Fire Emblem warrior. However, it mentioned no date as to when that will actually happen. A recent now-unavailable Facebook post merely stated that "limited quantities" of the Marth, Ike and Meta Knight figurines should be available "over the next few days."

Nintendo also invited amiibo-loving gamers on the same post to visit local retail stores and their respective websites to scoop some details regarding the availability of the items. Fortunately, those who would like to snag the long elusive silver and gold Super Mario amiibo have a date to circle.

The silver-dipped version of the figurine will be available on May 29. This will also be the day the "Splatoon" amiibo set touches down and the "Super Smash Bros." Wave 4 finally hits the shelves. Those in Australia will get the silver figurine in "limited quantities" on May 30.

As for the gold Super Mario figurine, EB Games revealed via Twitter that gamers in Australia and New Zealand can get the statuette solely from Target. Wal-Mart will be the only retailer to sell the rare nugget to buyers in the United States. No information about the release date is available.

Clamoring amiibo aficionados will just have to keep their eyes peeled for announcements about the actual release date, which is the most important piece of the puzzle that, when revealed, will instantly send buyers into a frenzy.

Nintendo is expected to drop more details about these highly-coveted, much-demanded amiibo figures soon. To refrain from resorting to eBay or other resellers, it pays to be on the lookout.
