'American Horror Story: Hotel' news: New season will have one big connection to season 1

Marcy, Will Drake and his son back at the Murder House FX

Every season of "American Horror Story" stands alone with its own characters, setting, and story; but the upcoming fifth season, "Hotel," will have one surprising connection to the very first season. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the fifth season will see the return of the Murder House.

Series co-creator Ryan Murphy stated in the report that there will be one episode where the infamous Murder House will be visited in season 5. Not only will the house be making a reappearance, but so will Marcy (Christine Estabrook), the notorious realtor that sold the home to the Harmons family back in season 1.

According to the report, she is also the realtor of the Hotel Cortez. The report also featured a promotional image of Marcy showing the home to Will Drake (Cheyenne Jackson) along with his son.

This shouldn't come as a big surprise, however, as Murphy did explain back in October last year that the seasons are loosely tied together .

"They're all connected," Murphy explained. "We're just beginning to tell you how they're connected. They're all very separate but there's clues every season that we're now telling you how the different worlds are intertwined."

The first time a connection in the series occurred was in "American Horror Story: Freak Show" where Pepper (Naomi Grossman) appeared. She was shown as one of the performers in "Freak Show" but in "Asylum," which takes place years later, Pepper had become one of the patients at the Briarcliff Asylum.

Just how far the connections will go between "Hotel" and "Murder House" have yet to be seen but if previous connections and Easter eggs are to be taken as clues, then they may be very minor in order to let the season focus primarily on the events in the hotel.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres this Oct. 7.
