6 Bible Scriptures To Help Keep Laziness At Bay

The Bible speaks strongly about laziness and urges us not to walk in it. God designed all people to work and to work well, yet laziness can still come to us, even if we don't want it to.  Most of the time, it comes too naturally. No one has to be intentional about being lazy, that's how easy it is. In fact, we actually have to be intentional about staying away from laziness because that's much harder.

In Genesis 1:28, God ordains man to work saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." God intends for us to be productive and to work hard and work excellently. Laziness is not God's will.

With this, as believers and followers of Christ, it's important that we always keep laziness at bay and strive to always give God our best. It helps build the will and commitment to stay productive when we truly understand God's design for work and why He calls us to participate in His all-encompassing work. It's not enough to just force ourselves to move. We must find passion and meaning in what we do and we can find this in God's Word.

Here are six scriptures that will help us keep laziness at bay and to pursue God's design for meaningful and passionate work.
