5 Bible Verses to Remind You of Your Identity in Christ When Bad Times Happen

Our identity in Christ is always attacked by the enemy, for fear that when the sons of God awaken his plans will come to naught. Seriously. "[C]reation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God" (see Romans 8:19), and the devil will do all that he can to stop that from happening.

Since the beginning of humankind, Satan has always been on the prowl for men and women to deceive them into living a lie (see 1 Peter 5:8). Using various cunning and sly tactics applied to the first man and woman, the devil has kept both men and women living lives that are way below what God intended, which is a life of intimacy with Him and security in Him and dominion over all creation — the life that Jesus lived.

Brothers and sisters, I know this very well for I have lived quite a long time under the devil's lie that I am not loved by God, that I will never be accepted by God, that I could never be totally forgiven by God, and that I will never be of use to Him. I used to believe the lies. But now that I could see that God is true even though man is not, I know who I am: a child of the Most High God — and so are you if you are in Christ.

Here are a few Bible verses that will strongly remind you of your identity in Christ whenever the enemy brings bad times to convince you that you aren't who God says you are.

Genesis 1:26-28 – "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
